This blog chronicles the life and times of a married pair of nerds (one a computer nerd, the other in medical school) and their one-eyed pet, Hondo. Previously, this pair of nerds had a settled life in a 200 year old house where they put much love and sweat into projects (some over their head). Med school had a way of changing their life plans, so... So long old house, your walls served them well while they lived there.

Identity Crisis
Lately, I have been getting a number of automated phone messages on my cell phone... and I have been immediately hanging up on the caller. I frequently get these messages from the Red Cross, etc. Well, the pesky company started to call my work number... and I took notice... it was my credit card company.
When I called the company back, I was transferred to their fraud investigation department. The department starts asking questions, like: Have you recently been buying auto parts in Equador? Do you know someone in Equador? Have you been travelling out of the country recently?
Thank goodness for such flags on the account! Evidently, someone somewhere made a copy of my card and has been using it in South America. They had made 2 transactions to date on the account, little by almost any standard (totalling $50.00 US), but the second purchase was larger than the first and there were 8 additional purchaces that had not been posted to our account (as of the time of my call). It's kind of scary that my identity and the identity of my card could be stolen, even when I shred or burn mail, and don't make many purchases online. But, thank goodness for fraud investigation departments... and their willingness to harass the customer!

Family Reunion
Garage Sale-ing
Yesterday, I went garage-sale-ing with Shannon P*n*ala... It was so much fun~ I do not think that I have been sale-ing this purposefully since living in Minnesota! :) It was so much fun to hunt down the deals, find the bargins, and "make a deal" or "negotiate" after request from the owner's of the sale! The best deal I got was probably the new looking grass seeder for $2 (will be needed to plant grass since the barn was shredded), and she got a great deal on baby stuff (which will be needed in ~July when she is due for #1)!
It was also fun to have "girl time". I think we spent the majority of the day laughing, chorused by the little people play set I bought at a sale (to keep the kids that come over entertained ~ the set made noise after every bump in the road). We also had to tie down the trunk in the rain... it must have been a laugh inducing sight for our audience of home-owners in the subdivision! :)
